Tristan New Profile_edited.jpg

Tristan McCoy is from western Colorado and and has always been interested in plants and herbs. While working at Rainbow Grocery (later Wild Oats) in Denver, he was fortunate to practice western herbalism with many of the customers. After hearing how effective acupuncture was with some of the customers, he decided to study this ancient medicine and integrate herbalism with acupuncture.

Tristan has been a licensed acupuncturist and practicing herbalist since graduating from the Colorado School of Traditional Chinese Medicine in 1995. Having an interest in Japanese acupuncture, Tristan interned with and assisted Jake Fratkin, Doctor of Oriental Medicine, from 1995 to 2000, learning Japanese acupuncture and assisting clients. In 2008 he graduated from nursing school and is a registered nurse. The study of nursing has immensely helped Tristan with understanding patients’ medical diagnoses and medications.

In 2014 Tristan graduated with a Masters of Science in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine from Southwest Acupuncture College. Since 1995, he has been certified in acupuncture and Chinese herbalism by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine.

Tristan uses a variety of acupuncture styles including Japanese meridian therapy and Chinese acupuncture. He also integrates cupping, Chinese and Western herbs, and other traditional modalities to promote the healing process.

In addition to treating pain, Tristan specializes in immune, digestive, and menstrual disorders.

Working closely with clients, he develops herbal formulas effective for their conditions. He has found that taking herbs daily is an important aspect of treatment that encourages clients to take an active role in their care. He also enjoys teaching clients dietary practices that assist them on their healing path.
